"Med rødder i Puerto Rico og ungdomsår tilbragt i Lower East Sides punkmiljø er Segarra imidlertid et godt stykke fra titlens Lilleby-helte. En rambler i ordets egentlige forstand, som på sin nye plade erklærer sig "happy in a Southern bar / in the corner playing my guitar." Med begavede tekster og vedkommende vokal bevæger vi os her hinsides stiløvelsen og lander i stedet med et stykke stærk, samtidig americana".

"With Small Town Heroes, Segarra proves herself one of the most compelling stylists in a folk revival full of suspicious acts either too beholden to tradition or too uncritical to make much of it. Perhaps the biggest difference between Hurray and its peers is attitude: Segarra understands that these styles don't need to be revived, so she's not playing dress-up and isn't concerned with projecting any sense of rustic authenticity. Instead, she understands that these old sounds still thrum somewhere deep in the American subconscious".

"Her understated songs are seductive, and the way she sings them in her unforced way is just right, in the same way that Natalie Merchant or Devon Sproule make everything sound natural and easy. And instrumentally, everything's wonderfully unflashy and mostly acoustic, serving the songs and that voice just perfectly, nothing superfluous, also just right ... It really doesn't need a cathegory other than fabulous".
