Desert dove

Description

Summary: Desert Dove is the new album from Michaela Anne and her first on Yep Roc Records. It was recorded in LA and produced by Sam Outlaw and Kelly Winrich (Delta Spirit). Michaela has been lauded for her timeless voice and narrative depth and this record takes that to the next level. The songwriting is confessional and unforgettable without being saccharin or self-indulgent; the tracks call to mind Michaela's diverse influences - everything from Stevie Nick's powerful voice and Fleetwood Mac's vibey arrangements to the Dixie Chick's incredible balance of conviction and catchiness - all showcasing her stellar voice and distinct vision.

"... not to downplay Anne's sparkling vocals and thoughtful original Americana combining singer-songwriter, country and shimmering, tuneful West Coast pop. But, enhanced by the sympathetic work of co-producers Sam Outlaw and Delta Spirit's multi-instrumentalist Kelly Winrich, these 11 tunes envelop the listener with their full, often lush, widescreen qualities ... The sparse solo acoustic "Be Easy" closes out the stunning Desert Dove, a splendid album that nimbly navigates footing on the tricky balancing act between Michaela Anne's stellar performance, her striking material and superb production".

"Michaela Anne's apparent disinterest in the slick, hollow approach of most contemporary country would have identified Desert Dove as something different regardless of the production, but Outlaw and Winrich helped make this into a striking, satisfying collection of songs that confirms Anne's status as one of country's freshest and most interesting new talents".

"While her previous work has been largely honky-tonk rooted, this is more wide-ranging in its country shadings ... Three years ago, Bright Lights and the Fame served as her breakthrough to a wider audience and airplay, Desert Rose should comfortably see her in full bloom".
