"Here some of the tracks are straight quartet transcriptions of selected piano Préludes, which, given the absence of piano pedalling, rework and clarify the textures in revealing ways. Then there are the more obviously 'jazzy' tracks, which generally mix and match various Préludes, including those already heard in transcription ... The clearest of jazz allusions may found in Bussi's Blues (a potpourri of at least four Préludes) and around the eight-minute mark of À l'ombre de la Cathédrale - otherwise the 'jazz' idea is interpreted very loosely".
