"This double CD release of a fan's recording captures the late pianist at London's Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in 1969 - the muffled but unmistakable tones of the club's owner can be heard introducing bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Marty Morell. Overall, the sound quality and balance are good, and only an occasionally thumpy bass drum stands out as under par".

"Listening to Bill Evans afresh on these recordings, it's the human-ness of his sound, not the excellence of his playing, that stays with me. The courage to fail, or to coast, or to simply repeat one's early successes, and to trust that at some point something remarkable will happen. Like looking back on an adolescent obsession with a new found fondness made possible by the passing of time, I hear it differently now. Where once I simply wondered "how do they do that?" now I love the fragility of it all. It's the risk of failure that makes the music succeed somehow, and it's what for me makes this gig, that now is a record, so remarkable. I wish I'd been there".

"Disse London-optagelser tilføjer ikke meget, der ikke kan studeres og nydes på [andre] udgivelser. Trioen spiller mere intenst og koncentreret under de kortere ophold i København og Amsterdam [omkring samme tidspunkt], og måske fordi London-opholdet var hele tre uger langt, er det tydeligt, at der jappes på Ronnie Scott's. Dette leder sine steder til nogle for Evans usædvanlig kraftfuldt swingende passager, der godt kan virke befriende som et modspil til de mange gennemarrangerede og ofte kun minimalt fravegne fastlagte mønstre i trioens kerne-repertoire ... Det [er] interessant at følge Evans, når han og trioen slår gækken løs, som det sker nogle gange, men den indspilningsmæssige kvalitet - vaklende balance, uudholdelig skarp bækkenlyd og ujusterbare fejl i båndhastigheder - gør, at denne betragter må sige: Har du andre indspilnger med denne trio fra denne tid, så bliv ved dem".
