"There's a ribbon of gothic romance in her sound (particularly on the baroque ballad "Nightvisions"), as well as a new studio team that includes producer Noah Georgeson, Grizzly Bear's Chris Bear, and celebrated Brazilian artists Jaques Morelenbaum and Tim Bernardes. These elements lace together to evoke the pop-friendly jazz of Astrud Gilberto and Laufey, the folk-infused mysticism of June McDoom and Vashti Bunyan-familiar touchstones for Flores' work that she nurtures here into rich new blooms".

"Born in Norfolk to Brazilian parents, 23-year-old singer-songwriter Flores makes music pitched somewhere between Antonio Carlos Jobim and Nick Drake. Her voice is slight, and her relentlessly bucolic, hippy-ish, Phoebe-from-Friends- style lyrics could potentially get on your nerves. But her chord changes are so heavenly, the delivery so moving, and the musicianship so impressive that it overwhelms you. "Orange Coloured Day" and "Cuckoo" are Pentangle-style jazz waltzes (...), while the spirit of Milton nascimento lurks over the gorgeous five-minute post-Tropicalia ballad "Butterflies"".
