"This third series revels in Brazilian music (psychedelic soul, samba, funk carioca, MPB, funky jazz, and forro). The soloists recruited for the third series are, for the most part, iconic. Featured here are tracks from forthcoming albums by three of the 1970s-era Black Rio movement: pianist Dom Salvador, its godfather; Hyldon, an influential psychedelic soul singer/songwriter; the prince of Brazilian soul, Carlos Dafé; samba legends Joyce and Tutty Moreno; and '70s and '80s samba/psych-pop duo Antônio Carlos e Jocafi ... JID 021 is credited to Muhammad and Younge, but make no mistake, their curatorial skills are sharply focused in these fine collaborations".
