"You know vocalist Jackie Allen, or you certainly should, given her track record of 11 uniformly exceptional albums over three decades. Hans Sturm, Allen's husband, is likely a less familiar name, though the bassist and producer has been the essential yang to her yin for much of her career. Rose Fingered Dawn, yet another triumph for Allen, deservedly brings Sturm more fully into the mix, again as bandmate and producer, but also as writer of all 10 tracks, most drawing on his and Allen's shared life experiences".

"Milwaukee-born, Nebraska-based jazz singer Jackie Allen is on a sky-kissing peaking career arc ... Allen's alluring voice, in its natural vibrato, glimmers like gulps from the heart, yet she transmits lyrics and sentiments with effortless aplomb and exquisite timing ... Try this singer out and you'll fall hard. Return to her and you'll know why you always do".

"Jackie Allen is among the many talented but under-the-radar singers you often find in unexpected places, meaning anywhere outside of New York City. On Rose Fingered Down, Allen's 12th album since 1994, she showcases a polished virtuosity and a varied procession of her musical personas".
