"Song of the Earth aims for a widescreen depth that plays more like a film score or a modern dance piece, and it's not hard to imagine this was meant to accompany a visual presentation of some sort rather than standing on its own. The music certainly has a keen sense of purpose, and the lyrics intelligently ponder our relationship to the natural world and the urgency of protecting our environment as it becomes all the more vulnerable".

"It remains to be seen whether Song of the Earth is just another curious left-turn in a discography full of them, or whether it signals a new Dirty Projectors epoch. What is certain though is that Song of the Earth is a thematically singular album, one which looks out of the window and faces up to what it sees outside, in a period in which drawing the curtains and looking inwards so often seems preferable".

Og i hans nye, eksperimenterende værk, Song of The Earth, synges der lige ud ad posen ... Song of The Earth er ikke hverdagskost.
