"OK, so maybe this isn't quite the soundtrack of late 1960s swinging London. The good news is that much of the material is as notable as it is obscure".

"Like the scene that inspired this box set it's a pretty mixed bag musically, although it does capture a unique burst of creativity that kicked off in a London postcode before becoming an international phenomenon. The three CDs also show how a scene explodes, develops and then often tails off when labels see pound signs, and despite the fact these songs are very much of their time they are on the whole really enjoyable and fun".

"Swinging London, Carnaby Street, Terry and Julie - we've been here before, but rarely with such wit and as many curveballs. Spinning off a 1966 Time magazine headline, this four-hour romp includes the expected likes of The Who and The Kinks, yet enjoys excavating less traditionally celebrated pendulum-confusing popsters".
