"After Gaffney's departure, Sebadoh moved in a cleaner, more focused direction. Bubble & Scrape was a last gasp of wild, often disquieting abandon. With 15 B sides, unreleased demos and alternate takes, the bonus tracks on this expanded reissue range from barely listenable (the four unnamed song fragments) to sublime (an endearingly delicate cover of the Necros' hardcore anthem "Reject," the homemade acoustic demo of "Soul and Fire"). But none of the extras are as essential as the original 17 blasts of beautiful bedlam".
