Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn alias Atlanta-rapperen Future er med tiden gået hen og er blevet en af de største og mest produktive stemmer i dagens hip hop. Hans mørke, nedbarberede og her vocoder-inficerede rap, også kaldet <i>trap music</i>, har mangen en fan, også hertillands. Eller som han fremsiger på "Program": <i>"Married to the trap, that's the program/My BFF is cash, that's the program".</i> Trap-genren kan dog også blive en fælde for en rapper, der kalder sig Future, for på "EVOL" er det småt med progressionen. Future smider de sikre kort, og således er albummets pick point også en sikker vinder - duetten med The Weeknd, "Low life". Bemærk: Futures nye album udkommer kun på vinyl. Men også blandt <i>homeboys</i> er vinyl det nye sort.

"EVOL arrives less than a month after Future's surprise mixtape Purple Reign, and while it has slightly more misses than hits, the highs are high-arguably higher than Purple Reign's-and ultimately, the lows aren't enough to break his current all-timer run".

"Released just a month after his mixtape Purple Reign, Evol is 2016's surprise album from rapper Future, although it's the streaming age's version of what used to be called a "street release," meaning it isn't a "major" entry in the artist's discography. The LP feels like it, too, as there are no great strides forward artistically or tracks designed to take over radio, but when it comes to the infectious trap rap that the MC has been dominating for the past year or so, Evol is as good as Purple Reign and features no filler".
