Phil Collins hyrede blæsere, strygere og stærke instrumentalister som Alphonso Johnson, Daryl Stuermer og Eric Clapton, og han fik den tids stjerneproducer Hugh Padgham om bord." In The Air Tonight" er stadig momentet - et musikalsk vredesudbrud. Resten af pladen er frem for alt godt håndværk med "The Roof Is Leaking" som et tænksomt stoppested og "I Missed Again" og "This Must Be Love" som et par popsange af den iørefaldende slags, som Phil Collins siden forsøgte at gentage i det uendelige".
