"Pia Heise has an attractive voice and sings with appealing candour. Roger Vignoles is an attentive, vastly experienced accompanist. Yet it is hard to suppress the feeling that this debut recital is premature ... She sings with a confidence and a mezzo glow in [Weyse and Nielsen] ... Where artless innocence is called for - Brahms's Wiegenlied - she is touching. But, to be Beckmesserish, her technique is not quite settled".

"Actually, within certain clearly defined limits, the recital is an attractive one, cleverly put together and stimulating to listen to ... I enjoyed discovering the two songs by the singer's compatriots Carl Nielsen and C.E.F. Weyse - there must surely be more to unearth here and I hope Heise will be allowed to do so ... Given the limited emotional compass of this release, it'll be interesting to watch how much wider in range Pia Heise's attractive voice will expand in terms of style and repertoire in future recitals".
