"John Primer does a remarkable job not only on guitar, but his vocals are spot on. There is probably no one on the planet that can cover Muddy Waters better than Primer, he obviously knew he had a daunting task taking on this project, and took his performance to another level".

"As a worthy tribute to a true giant of the blues, Muddy Waters 100 ticks just about every box that it can. All fifteen tracks are songs that Muddy recorded and, in the hands of the assembled musicians and producer Larry Skoller, they are given a modern, vibrant makeover that refreshes many of them ... The superb sound grabs you from the very start as a pulsating version of Got My Mojo Working pushes the pedal to the floor, setting the album roaring off down the road".

"The premise of the recording is that Waters embraced and mastered the traditional music that evolved within African American culture, transported it north to Chicago, transformed it to fit the modern world of his fellow émigrés and ultimately played a central role in reshaping popular culture worldwide. The 15 covers of Waters recordings on this CD represents an attempt to construct a similar traditional/transformative bridge ... The tracks are split between two approaches: traditional performances in homage to Waters' classic style and transformative performances that incorporate contemporary production techniques, including electronic drums and drum loop programming".
