Med nogen forsinkelse udkommer denne skive nu i Danmark, med det der har været et af de største gennembrud på hitlisterne i år. Navnet er Charlie Puth, en 24-årig dimmitend fra Berklee College of Music, der står bag storhits som "See you again" (feat. Wiz Khalifa) og "Marvin Gaye" (feat. Meghan Trainor). Inden da havde Charlie skabt sig et navn som YouTube-stjerne med egen sangkanal og tusindvis af followers til de hjemmegjorte videoer. Charlie gør sig i en særegen, sirups-sød r&b-pop der lander et sted mellem Bruno Mars og Ed Sheeran. Romantikken er i top og vokalen insisterende og dyb - skabt til at smelte ethvert pigehjerte. Hvilket Charlie med garanti gjorde, da han gav koncert i Danmark tidligere i år.

"... the album is a smoothly executed pitch deck of exactly what will perform on pop radio in 2016, and Puth (...) will do just fine ... Nine Track Mind is demoralizingly well-constructed as a means to an end, and it's because of Puth's considerable abilities, and not in spite of them, that the album induces such despair ... The album's emotional range covers the spectrum from light longing to light infatuation, contributing to the overall sense that Nine Track Mind is aimed exclusively at hairlessness: children, prepubescents, the discomfitingly waxed".

"There are flashes of something special on Suffer, and the surprisingly sultry Selena Gomez collaboration We Don't Talk Anymore, but in general, Puth's anonymity is infuriating".

"Desværre ligger Charlie Puths album farlig tæt på den evigt trætte skabelon, der dikterer, at pop-plader ofte bliver forglemmelige, forudsigelige og alligevel usammenhængende ... Nine Track Mind er lidt bedre end andre forglemmelige udgivelser, og selvom musikken er sikker, viser Charlie Puth, at hans vokal er enestående og alligevel i stand til lidt forskelligt".
