"Released in 1972, Transa was recorded by Caetano Veloso during his exile in London, England, shortly before his return to Brazil. The sound of '70s electric rock predominates, fused with Brazilian rhythms and percussion, berimbau sounds, and his own violão playing".

"Transa is the work that best reflects his artistic growth and sense of alienation. Sung in a mixture of English and Portuguese (often within the same song), it's a dark, brooding but ultimately beautiful testament to alienation and the loneliness of a life spent in political exile".
