"Julepladen er et af populærkulturens mest corny formater ... Nu får vi så endnu et bud på genren fra Dolly Parton, som to gange tidligere i karrieren - i 1984 og 1990 - har prøvet kræfter med den potentielt problematiske genre ... Det er svært ikke at holde af Dolly - den distinkte stemme og hjertet af guld gør, at damen kan slippe af sted med ting, som ville være hinsides tåkrummende, hvis de blev bragt til torvs af andre end den efterhånden 74-årige country-institution fra Tennessee ... Decideret pinefuldt bliver det sjældent med Dolly, selvom det er tæt på flere gange her".
