"A Night Walking Through Mirrors has a decidedly un-curated feel to it. As the title implies, there is a ghostly quality to the music, even as it imposes alternately raw and supple emotions. At the heart of ear-bending configurations the sound remains self-assured and expressive; the life of the music resides in the larger world, where ego is left behind".

"Surprisingly, Rob Mazurek's wordless, chant-like vocals slide into the mix just as easily as Edwards's bass. The stylistic ebb-and-flow of A Night Walking Through Mirrors gives the listener permission to forget once in a while that he or she is listening to a "jazz" album. As many people as there are who grumble about the avant-garde and free jazz, there are probably just as many who grumble about technology's role in jazz. Mazurek and Taylor have tapped into a sub-genre where technology compliments the feeling of liberation rather than spoils it. The more receptive you are to their tweakings, the more satisfying this album will be".

"Neither pianist Alexander Hawkins nor bassist John Edwards had ever played with Mazurek or Taylor prior to a performance at London's Café OTO last year. Yet their previous experiences in London (collectively having performed with Evan Parker, Sunny Murray and Anthony Braxton, to name a few) more than prepared them for the task at hand ... Clearly this was a meeting of kindred spirits, which hopefully will happen again before long".
