"It's all interesting, at least once, and there is plenty to chew on in these nine tracks. How often anyone other than Scott fans will want to hear some of these again is unclear. Those looking for another "The Whole of the Moon" will not find anything close to that Waterboys' classic as Scott continues to explore different ways of expressing himself, evolving and mutating his career according to his own muse".

"Just one year shy of the 40th anniversary of the Waterboys' debut album, All Souls Hill shows Mike Scott is still willing to follow his muse wherever it cares to go, and his casual fearlessness still brings forth good results; this is fun, thoughtful, expressive music from a man whose inspiration has yet to run dry".

"And Scott is still Scott all these years later, incomparably articulating lyrics and delivering them with passion. Not only does he still have plenty to say in his uniquely expressive way, but he still likes to have fun ... All Souls Hill feels like a gradual step with the heavier foot planted on the electronic DIY side while venturing back to the organic with the lighter foot".
