"The Fontaines DC frontman gets personal: The rollicking post-punk of the Dublin band has been dialled down on this suite of haunted, intimate songs, where the prevailing vibe is a rapidly sinking feeling ... Chatten's manner sometimes recalls those great critics of human nature Leonard Cohen and Elliott Smith".

"Der er bid og nerve i Grian Chattens solodebut der ligger lige tilpas langt fra og tæt på lydbilledet man kender fra Fontaines D.C. ... Når man nu ved, at fjerde Fontaines-album er i støbeskeen, kan man roligt tage Chaos for the Fly til sit indiehjerte. Det er stærk solo-melankoli".

"Chatten's debut may be a sonic departure from the post-punk-laden tracks of the band he fronts. However, his peerless, honest lyricism and distinct vocals are still recognisable on top of a mixture of glittering synths, wispy acoustic guitars, and layers of ethereal strings ... In the disarray of anxiety, touring and being thrust into the unrelenting bright light of fame, Chatten [has] found a semblance of balance by channelling acute discomfort into a stirring, spotless debut, and what he excavated from the biting darkness is not only beautiful but promising".

"Lyrically, Chatten's world is still tumultuous, yet he's learned to coat it around a romantic, less uptight sound. Hopefully Fontaines D.C. can carry some of these moods forward but, whatever happens, this is a superb interlude".
