"The likable eight original songs on his 12th album - along with covers of Albert [King]'s "You're Gonna Need Me" and Cleanhead Vinson's "Kidney Stew" - emanate their pulse from the infallible musicianship of associates like bassist Larry Taylor and co-producer/keyboardist Jim Pugh. Cain's down-in-a-ditch singing voice is serviceable, as are his efforts on alto saxophone and piano".

" ... Cris Cain cooks up a tasty musical stew, boiling with a few dashes of rock 'n' roll, simmering with bluesy jazz and served up with Cain's delectable guitar riffs ... Cain is the master of playing the just-right lick in the right place; he never wastes a note, even as he squeezes multiple notes into a single phrase ... this album demosntrates again that Cain has clearly inherited the guitar mantle of B.B. King and Albert King".
