"Like many artists who have stripped away the noise and rough edges from their sound, what's left over isn't as interesting as it could be, and it's hard not to imagine that the songs on Cool would be better off with a layer of liberally applied grungy fuzz coating them".

"This is a fun album that fans of pop music and guitar rock will both be able to get into. Green's hooks are immediate and memorable and her guitar lines are interesting and a bit unusual. Her big melodies often disguise the more interesting aspects of her songwriting, which is probably why it took a few listens for these songs to really click with me. The six-year break hasn't dulled Green's musical skills at all and Cool is a record worth hearing".

"... Cool is just what its title implies, an album that's entirely comfortable with how it sounds and what it says about the world. There are no insecurities on display here, even when Green is contemplating the perils of social media ("You Don't Exist") or a lover with others on the side ("Someone Else"). She's not afraid to tell you if she doesn't like the way you drive, either. Top it off with the fact that she's totally in control of the way she plays and sings, and you get a very empowered, very confident album. Super fun, too".
