"Jeremiah mode and reggae go together like shoes and socks. Even though Ivorian-born (but now Mali resident) Tiken Jah Fakoly is a Muslim and even though he discourages his vast throng of followers from smoking the holy herb, he has the right stance and big voice and feel. He sings of the plight of suffering humanity and suffering Africa in particular. Last Call For Africa and When Will Africa Wake Up set the tone. Lushness is added by the use of a large string section - pure Mantovani - and frequent use of traditional African instruments, principally ngoni, balafon and kora. Great slabs of electro texture make it a rich pudding, but the beat doesn't flag. Nice boppy version of Max Romeo's War In A Babylon lightens the mood".
