"Less obsessive fans might not see the necessity in seeking out more than one live recording from a window of time when a lot of Young's shows were fairly similar. Young completists will of course need to hear the clarity of this recording, and will appreciate the subtle nuances in every joke, slight variation in delivery, and minor shift in presentation that separate this show from any other".

"... a testament to the consistently high level of Young's performances (not to mention a sunny state of mind, then and now, to which he alludes in the abbreviated liner notes to Chandler)".

"The final show of Young's so-called Journey Through The Past tour, recorded (...) two days after [the UCLA show on 'Royce Hall 1971'], is inevitably more of the same, professionally recorded with a slightly altered song order (no "Down By The River") ... I could have docked 'Dorothy Chandler Pavilion' a star for repetition, but if you're in this deep, that's small change. And these records each have a story to tell, affirming why we needed bootlegs in the first place: every night is different, and you don't know which ones are worth keeping until they're gone".
