"First album in ten years from hit-making dance duo is a yacht rock stinker ... There's clearly a current appetite for regurgitating the worst, most vacuous sounds of the Eighties, alongside the best. Seven years ago Daft Punk's Random Access Memories proved this could even be done with aplomb but, unfortunately Edge of the Horizon seems more the misguided product of a feeble passing trend than rooted in anything vibrant or exciting".

"Groove Armada's ninth studio full-length, Edge of the Horizon, trades big beats for mood, transporting listeners to a cool, funky dimension where past crossover hits like "Superstylin'" and "History" make way for nostalgic, synth-based dreamscapes. Along with a team of inspired guests, the English duo create a world that exists somewhere between Prince and Empire of the Sun ... Edge of the Horizon is a pleasing trip through the psychedelic that bridges the vibes of a past era with sharp production, providing a calming comedown to balance the rest of Groove Armada's catalog".

"In a sense this is all like minor league Daft Punk. It's close, but the seasonings never quite come together. Which is not to say that Groove Armada can't come back from this. They've had their share of albums that didn't quite measure up, but it's hard to see the Edge of the Horizon from here".
