"Sylvie Vartan was one of the grooviest singers in France during the 60s - part of that great wave of female talent that also included Francoise Hardy and France Gall - and although her French recordings are very well-remembered and reissued, she also cut a number of more obscure English language tracks at the time! This collection is the first to focus on those gems - work recorded in New York, Nashville, and London - all different spots directed by RCA, where Sylvie picked up new grooves, different production, and some styles that really expanded her sound! Almost all the numbers here still have that swinging 60s French pop approach - mod at times, slinky at others - but the shift to English lyrics makes for a mighty nice change - and opens the singers charms to an even bigger audience ... [with] detailed notes".

"For the newcomer of Sylvie, then En Anglais - Et En Americain is the perfect introduction to her music. It features twenty-five ylvie's English language recordings the period between 1962 and 1968. They range from singles, tracks from from EP's and albums and a number of unreleased tracks. These songs document the first six years of the Sylvie's long and illustrious career".
