Pitchforkd. 26. Apr. 2019ByBySophie Kempd. 26. Apr. 2019"It's a shame to see a band with such clear skill and experimental prowess release an album as doltish as Fishing for Fishies, especially considering that, not so long ago, they managed to release five good albums in a single year. There is very little joy involved in listening to these nine songs; they sound like a stoner's tribute to the music of "Guitar Hero," sprinkled with a dash of Baby Boomer complacency. After a remarkably weird and great run, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have gone fishing in murky waters and caught only an old shoe".Read review
Under the radard. 22. May 2019ByByBen Jardined. 22. May 2019"Watching this band evolve is pure joy. And with budding rumors of a second 2019 release, King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard seem to be continuing to push boundaries even further".Read review
The Young Folksd. 1. May 2019ByByBrian Thompsond. 1. May 2019"Each King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard album seems to be the result of a band who continuously boxes themselves into specific parameters in order to see what comes out on the other side. That experimentation has produced some truly inspired work (Float Along - Fill Your Lungs, Nonagon Infinity), but it certainly isn't a guaranteed recipe for success. If you were to lay out every King Gizzard album in order in terms of quality, Fishing for Fishies would most likely make out somewhere in the middle, but it fully displays the Aussie rockers' animated charm as they continue to make engaging music without allowing themselves to take any of it too seriously".Read review
