"Causa Sui's second album has been out of print since being issued by the Elektrohasch Schallplatten label in 2007, making a repressing with sexy redesigned artwork a welcome prospect. Nowadays the Danish quartet specialise in spiralling stoner rock of the instrumental variety but back when "Free Ride" was recorded they still had a lead singer in the form of Kasper Markus, The musical ingredients are riffs of the Black Sabbath via Kyuss ilk, smatterings of Hawkwind's electronic effects, groovy post-Doors organ breakdowns, fuzzy wig-outs, and digressions influenced by the weightier end of krautrock. Mr Markus certainly sounds like he must have sported a scraggly beard, permanent aviator shades, and shirt unbuttoned to his furry navel ... The players' chemistry is evident in this relatively embryonic stage, even if the overall groove is not quite as awe-inspiring or distinctive as it would later become ... The [20-minute] live cut from Roadburn Festival proves the young Danes didn't just have the studio chops".
