"Susan Cadogan [is] the singing librarian whose sultry voice and matching looks made her reggaefication of Millie Jackson's Hurt So Good into an international hit. 'Hurt So Good' (Burning Sounds) is the latest in that label's "Storybook Revisited" series, which finds reggae stars re-creating their vintage recordings with the firm backing of Gordon Mulrain's band and the surefooted production of Delroy Williams. As well as the UK hits Hurt So Good and Love Me Baby, Cadogan delves into her singles back catalogue for songs such as her reggae take on Erma Franklin's Piece Of My Heart and the punping Nice And Easy. Revisiting her albums, she pulls a rabbit out of the hat with a come-hither rendition of Marianne Faithfull's As Tears Go By, originally issued only on a reggae tribute to the Rolling Stones. That's one of the few surprises which this album has in store; in the main, it's warm, melodic and comfortable reggae from a consummate song stylist".
