En blogger bemærkede for nylig spydigt, at Kodaline var et boyband kamufleret i indierock-klæder. Og selvom Kodaline ikke er et nyt One Direction, ramte skribenten ikke helt ved siden af i sin karakteristik. For Kodaline er nogle unge og aldeles nydelige irske chaps der mestendels synger om knuste hjerter. Forsanger Steve Garrigan crooner og synger som en anden Chris Martin, og kan man lide Coldplay, The Calling og The Fray, vil man elske Kodaline. Det gør de allerede i Irland og England, hvor Kodaline har rangeret højt på hitlisterne med singlerne "High hopes" og "All I want", der nu også får airplay i Danmark. Sidstnævnte er i øvrigt også blevet brugt i et afsnit af "Grey's anatomy", og det siger ikke så lidt om den hurtigt voksende popularitet.
