"Black Lips have completely resuscitated something here. It's not new or old, intentional, or accidental, not from a place of contrive or a desire to fit in an already oddly shaped hole. These are artists making art, a bunch of fellas from the South and a bad-ass woman from LA who take comfort in obtuse lo-fi garage rock, pouring it out on a killer country record. It's sacred ground for a whole other realm, one which may be way better than the one we mettle in on the day today. "Live fast, die slow, in a world that's falling apart."".

"The record is bustling with new ideas and golden old ones, and it's fitting that these Atlanta outlaws have once again stayed true to their original rabble-rousing vision. After all, that's what most of their country influences did, stick to a winning formula and taking it to the grave ... It can be dodgy terrain for any band to a peddle a similar style and sound two decades into their career - especially when approaching a 10 album - but that's the last thing Black Lips should be concerned about".

"As one might expect, a great deal of Sing in a World That's Falling Apart is being played for laughs, either in broad strokes or with tongue in cheek, and it's ultimately a matter of taste about how many chuckles you'll get from this. But it's commendable that the Black Lips are trying to find new things to do after 20 years of balancing order and chaos, and while no one should suggest they take any long-term bookings on the honky tonk circuit, if someone wanted to do an indie remake of Herschell Gordon Lewis' Two Thousand Maniacs, this version of the Black Lips might be the right guys to play the musicians".
