"The Cranberries say goodbye beautifully on In the End ... 'Finality resounds on album standouts like "All Over Now," "Lost" and "In the End" - all of which reflect the angst of Dolores O'Riordan & Co.'s classic works".

"In the months following the unexpected passing of Dolores O'Riordan, the surviving members of the Cranberries decided to complete the album they had been recording together before her accidental death in January 2018. The resulting eighth and final effort, In the End, served as both a goodbye to their inimitable vocalist and the band itself. Along with longtime producer Stephen Street, Fergal Lawler and Mike and Noel Hogan returned the group's sound to the '90s, evoking the spirits of 1994's No Need to Argue and 1996's To the Faithful Departed. Elegiac and bittersweet, In the End is a heavy listen, haunted by the finality of mortality and unrealized potential. However, instead of casting an impenetrable shadow over the album, O'Riordan's vocals serve as a reminder of the beauty and purity she captured throughout the band's decades-long existence, capable of ethereal highs and vulnerable lows".

"Dolores O'Riordan's 2018 death casts a long shadow over her band's final album, completed posthumously. Many of the titles - Lost, All Over Now and such - seem to unwittingly allude to it. Then there is the chilling poignancy of her opening line: "Remember the night in a hotel in London", which conjures up a tragic reminder of the location of her passing. However, such unfortunate coincidences shouldn't detract from what - pieced together with loving care by her surviving bandmates - is a wonderful epitaph".

"The Cranberries er lydliggørelsen af de knuste hjerter og indbegrebet af 90'er-tristesse. Nu er bandet ude med et sidste album om smertefulde slutninger - et år efter, at forsanger Dolores O'Riordan døde, kun 46 år gammel ... Albummet bærer titlen 'In the end' og er bandets definitive punktum. De resterende medlemmer af The Cranberries har nemlig udtalt (...) at de hverken kan eller vil erstatte Dolores O'Riordan ... O'Riordan lyder på 'In the end', som hun altid har lydt: som én, der har varige blå mærker. The Cranberries er og bliver sorgernes band, det er tydeligt fra første sang og til den sidste".
