"BTS leader makes emphatic bid for timelessness with remarkable solo debut: 'Indigo' is an album that feels unperturbed by current trends and sounds most likely to score a hit, instead focusing on building its own inimitable world. It's too early to tell if the record will help the BTS leader achieve his goal of creating something truly timeless but, in this moment, `Indigo' feels like a masterpiece with the potential to be remembered as a classic".

"The K-pop phenomenon's frontman strikes out alone with the help of guest stars Erykah Badu and Anderson .Paak: M (formerly Rap Monster) is the de facto leader of behemoth Korean group BTS. Indigo is the charismatic rapper's first solo album; it finds him reflecting on his 20s and, accordingly, pop stardom ... RM's delivery at best is boisterous, sometimes taut as elastic, elsewhere a slick rasp (his singing voice is less striking, though no less full of feeling). Some moments fall flat - Lonely is cloying, paint-by-numbers EDM-pop that doesn't fully land. Still, Indigo is a polished collection that spans both pop and rap with confidence".

"When BTS started their temporary hiatus in 2022, the stage was set for the individual members to spread their wings with solo efforts. Following releases by J-Hope and Jin, group leader RM took his turn with his first official full-length, Indigo. Like his previously released mixtapes RM and Mono, Indigo is a genre-hopping ride that showcases RM's skills on the mic. Atop polished, rich production, the bilingual emcee weaves English and Korean through dense verses where he grapples with life, fame, and destiny ... An eye-opening taste of what RM is truly capable of outside the bounds of the K-pop powerhouse".
