"The singer-songwriter-superproducer teams with the Vermont jazz musician Chris Weisman for an invigorating collaborative album that's whimsical and wistful in surprising ways".

"It's easy to think of Jelly Road a "rinse and repeat project," and there might be some merit to such an accusation if not for the continually exciting yet easy-going rhythm of the record. Though no piece of the album could be considered particularly direct, you know the trajectory of one about 10 seconds into it. Jelly Road is a drive down the interstate: if you were to look at it on paper, you'd be dreading it out of fear of being bored to tears. Once you're actually in the middle of it, however, you realize the practical beauty of the scenery passing by, all the while you don't even need to lift a finger".

"Whatever this album may or may not reveal about the real Blake Mills, he's evidently a person who cares deeply - even obsessively - about his chosen artform, and its ability to delight, console and transform. Jelly Road regularly does all three".
