"... despite the temptation that must surely exist to simply excel with the competitive musicianship here, each of the three players succeeds in bringing something fresh, full of flavour and ringing with ability and style to the table , while never losing sight of the strength of ensemble playing that shines and sparkles. An excellent bit of old-school R&B and a release to catch at the first opportunity".

"On each song the trio feeds off of one another, making the songs their own. Walker states "this album is a throwback to the days of less is more. No long guitar solos, no drums or extra instrumentation. Just good honest blues played with heart and soul. I hope people enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it". Katz adds "this was an incredibly satisfying CD to record. To be able to play deep, real blues with musicians like Joe and Giles was a truly soulful experience". Robson concludes "each song on the album took us on a journey, both lyrically and musically to the heart of blues music. We invite you to take those journeys with us." It's tradition that makes these "journeys to the heart of the blues" so inviting".

"If there's one knock on the album, it's that some of the tracks run a little long. Given the compressed rehearsal and recording schedule, it makes sense that the tracks might lose a certain tightness. But it's a minor criticism of a beautiful album that makes you feel like you're sitting in someone's living room, listening to some friends take on some beloved blues songs".
