"'Meet Me in Bluesland' is a fine collection of classic, blues-infused southern rock. Johnson and the Headhunters are a natural match; they sound as if they'd always played together. Richard Young and Doug Phelps take turns singing lead; Young's blues-shouter chops and Phelp's clear, countrified tenor attest to the southern rockers' varied musical influences ... All in all, the Kentucky Headhunters and Johnnie Johnson created some good-time, roadhouse-rocking blues together, and 'Meet Me in Bluesland' is a welcome addition to their previous recordings".
