"Despite the occasional misstep, Ward and Deschanel's reverence for the source material is evident throughout - both artists grew up in Southern California. Their renderings of "Don't Worry Baby" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice" may be ramshackle, but much like the originals, they're delivered with unguarded joy and wide-eyed innocence".

"Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward's first album together in six years is a low-stakes set of Beach Boys covers, toggling between merely pleasant and overly precious".

"... the pair deserve credit for an adventurous attitude and for not allowing their reverence to deter their intents. These are, after all, interpretations, and in any such circumstance, creativity counts. Granted, it's an unorthodox tack for a tribute, but it's one that still resonates well".
