"Who knows if Volt would have come to this album under different circumstances? But I'm glad she did. It's a bold move from an artist committed to getting her music out, even if it means becoming her own band. Eventually, Volt will be able to return to band-oriented recording but I hope she keeps the one-person band in her musical arsenal, at the very least for a few tracks per album".

"... Volt manages to render the music with fullness and finesse, her sizzling fretwork filling in the spaces and ensuring a consistent dynamic throughout. Recorded last November at the legendary Royale Sound Studios in Memphis, the hallowed setting for classic recordings by Al Green and Willie Mitchell, the new album is nothing less than a tour-de-force".

"While this is a blues album, Volt doesn't focus on any particular type of blues ... No matter the style of a particular song, Volt ties it all together with her unique vocals. She has clearly been baptized in the blues, but she could just as easily sing soul or rockabilly. It's fitting that these songs were created from traveling because these songs make you want to get into an old convertible and get on the road to somewhere. The destination wouldn't matter as long as this was at least part of the soundtrack".
