"Paley is a great storyteller and entertainer as well as an impressive multi-instrumentalist, and the selection here ranges from murder ballads to reminders of his famously risque sense of humour. There's a rousing version of This Train, on which Tom duets with Cerys Matthews, and a dash of black humour added to the bleak story of Little Sadie. But the best is saved until last, with his solo treatment of the old Mississippi John Hurt lament Louis Collins".

"It's 57 years since folk music's sprightliest octogenarian first flipped the wigs of hip young folkniks like Bobby Zimmerman via the first New Lost City Ramblers album, but Tom Paley's busier now than ever. Virtuoso fiddle player Ben Paley, currently garnering plaudits for his work with both The Long Hill Ramblers and Bonnie Dobson, has been around for quite a while now too, with a recording career going back to 1991. This new collaboration, with material sourced from the likes of Charlie Poole, Clarence Ashley and Mississippi John Hurt, is an old-time delight from beginning to end".
