"The songs - all written by Anderson and Williams - convey a knowing attitude and measured reflection, a sound that resonates through its vintage feel as well as the contemporary craftsmanship. On a song like "Old Fashioned Man," Anderson and Williams trade verses with a purity and purpose that brings to mind an old Appalachian ballad. The effect is all the more striking considering the cultural disparity and varied locales that had to be overcome in order to make the clean, clear musical connection so evident on the album".

"A cross-hemisphere collaboration between two teams of very distinctive artists encompassing a wide range of styles and influences ... Each of these three artists brings out something new in the others, prodding them slightly out of their comfort zones. Coming off last year's Carrying On, which saw her find surer footing in her storytelling, Kacy contributes some of her sharpest lyrics - and, on the title track, some of her grimmest".

"The album is built around the contrasting yet complementary voices of Anderson and Williams. The former has a pure folk-rooted sound, while the Kiwi has a more expansive and eclectic style ... In its entirety, the collaborative effort is compelling; Plastic Bouquet is the furthest thing from a plastic collection".

"Plastic Bouquet is a uniquely satisfying mix of both William's country leanings and Kacy and Clayton's more folk-based sound. Whether this merging of talents was a one-off experiment or a Fleetwood Mac in the making (minus the drama), we're still left with a powerful record".

"The pairing works even better than it looks on paper. Both acts keep country traditions close to their hearts, and [Kacy] Anderson's crystal-clear voice wraps itself around [Marlon] Williams' Roy Orbison croon like a modern Gram and Emmylou. [Clayton] Linthicum's guitar adds texture and twang, as the inerplay between the trio delivers their 'Plastic Bouquet' close to country perfection".
