"Membre de la troupe de l'Opéra de Copenhague, Ylva Kihlberg fait ce qu'elle peut dans un rôle éponyme ajusté sur son beau et grand soprano lyrique, quand le spectacle plutôt froid de Kasper Holten nous laisse de marbre - alors qu'il devrait nous saisir à la gorge".

"Et ret enigt anmelderkorps uddelte drøje hug ... dvd-optagelsen vinder i forhold til live-udgaven ... Hovedrollen synges og dramatiseres meget ekspressivt og ægte af den svenske sopran Ylva Kihlberg ... Det cirkulære handlingsforløb og den enkle scenografi virker stærkt og klart på skærmen. Her zoomes helt ind på sangernes udtryksfulde ansigterm deres forvredne kroppe og sorgtyngede bevægelser på scenen ... Ruders' afdæmpede og enkle musik serveres pletfrit af Det Kgl. Kapel med dets daværende chefdirigent Michael Schønwandt i spidsen ... Oplagt, negativ anmelderkritik af operaen eller ej".

Michael Schønwandt conducts with his customary flair, securing a comitted response from the Royal Danish Opera Orchestra, while Kasper Holten directs with the theatricl inventiveness and acuity that made his Ring cycle ... such an absorbing reinterpretation".
