"Esa Holopainen is incredible at his craft and his years of hard work in AMORPHIS has created an everlasting legacy in the melodic death metal world. His solo work here is commendable but ultimately not all that groundbreaking. The production is faultless however and the guest vocal additions are perfect throughout. His guitar work is as stellar as you'd expect and he makes every track feel effortlessly created. Fans of AMORPHIS will no doubt love to hear more of Esa's work and for those who need an introduction, this is a great place to start".

"Lead guitarists of celebrated bands often indulge in heady 6-string excess when it comes to their solo albums. Instead, Amorphis co-founder Esa Holopainen indulges in a wish-list of lead singers to grace his skilled compositions and the results are impressive indeed. If the COVID lockdown era desperately needed a silver lining, "Silver Lake" certainly fits the bill".
