"It's strange to think that Chris Stapleton only released his debut album five years ago. Before then, the Kentucky-born musician had spent over a decade writing hit songs for other country music stars, from Kenny Chesney to Luke Bryan. Upon releasing 2015's Grammy-winning Traveller, though, he went from one of Nashville's best-kept secrets to one of its biggest artists ... As ever, Stapleton's songwriting is economical, and he tackles favoured themes with a weathered sensitivity; production from his long-time collaborator Dave Cobb, another of Nashville's finest, is never over-embellished".

"Chris Stapleton continues excellent run of relatable songs ... Unlike the 2017 pair of albums which were rather short, Stapleton delivers a generous heaping of 14 songs here. He has nothing left to prove, but somehow, he just gets incrementally better as he takes more control and confidence in his own songwriting. This is as good as any of his albums and maybe just a tad better".
