"On his last album Prick of the Litter (Hot Shot Records, 2017 ), Grammy-Award winning Delbert McClinton wholly fulfilled his image as the contemporary definition of modern Texas style r&b. He certainly didn't do it alone-his band the, Self-Made Men, added savvy and soul-but the man who showed John Lennon how to blow the harmonica imbued his original songs with personal meaning that only elevated their authenticity of style. Fourteen new tunes composed by the frontman in various combinations of collaborators fuel the same combustible result here ...".

"Have we heard it all before? You bet. But that doesn't make it any less enjoyable, especially since everyone involved is clearly having a blast. In other words, it's McClinton as we've come to know and love him, cranking out another solid disc of Americana, Delbert-style. It sounds inspired and freewheeling, like he's just getting started. And considering his age and extensive resume, that's quite a compliment".

"... Tall, Dark, And Handsome is the work of a master stylist, a musician who draws upon old, familiar sounds and creates something idiosyncratic and soulful in equal measure".

"Delbert McClinton's never been better that on Tall, Dark, and Handsome. Every song reveals his mastery of another facet of blues and jazz and illustrates the ways that his nonstop energy carries these songs into the stratosphere".
