"Heard for the first time more than 10 years after it was recorded, this live album is part of that last piece in Knight's career; in just a few weeks, Marie Knight will be posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an Artist of Early Influence. In 2007, she was the last living legend from the Golden Age of Gospel: 1940-1960 ... This is as pure as gospel gets. You'll be swept away by Knight's enthusiasm and through the many spoken passages get to see several sides of Knight: humor, seriousness, and, of course, the spiritual".

"Knight's renditions are full-bodied, but not show-offy, just sticking to basic heart-punching gospel ... Knight recorded one more record in '07, Let Us Get Together, A Tribute To Rev. Gary Davis, for M.C. Records as well. She passed away two years after this show, and her work has been overshadowed by Tharpe's. She deserves a revival, and this service should suffice to get her back on the pulpit, her spirit and her sound still spreading the gospel truth".

" ... a profoundly moving and dynamic performance by the then 87-year-old singer, accompanied solely by pianist and background vocalist David Keyes ... Though her powerful contralto voice does seem to have diminished over the years, Knight sings all the songs, whether they are her iconic hits or the [Reverend Gary] Davis repertoire that she had only recently learned, with a tremendous warmth, power and conviction. There are no frills, no pretensions; this music is straightforward and soulful old-time gospel music delivered by a stunning singer and a masterful pianist".
