"It's obvious that Goldie pours his soul into everything he creates, so it's hard to fault him for making music he truly believes in, but there's still a fair amount of skippable tracks here. Despite this, Goldie remains a hero and an inspirational figure, and even if The Journey Man doesn't quite stack up to Timeless, it's still a respectable effort, and its best moments confirm the man's legendary status".

"On The Journey Man, Goldie's first proper solo studio LP since 1998's Saturnz Return, the sonic alchemist from the West Midlands manages to craft a sprawling, nearly two-hour collection that sounds vital and inspired, while also delivering a fresh twist on the euphoric drum `n' bass club anthems that he'll always be known for".

"At its best, The Journey Man has moments that are competitive with Goldie's past highlights (...). In these songs we get a clear indication of the end of Goldie's Journey - we see that he's come to a place of emotional wholeness. But we lack any implication of the rest of this journey. What did Goldie get through to be here? ... If anything, one hopes he Goldie will engage with the present-and all the ways that electronic music has morphed since 1995-for the next one, rather than simply reckoning with his own legacy. Maybe this is a necessary gesture for him in order to progress forward. Only time will tell".
