"Ind imellem rammer debutplader hundrede procent rent ind. Lige i skabet i første forsøg. Tidsbillede og toneklang. Sådan rammer The Overload direkte ind i bullseye ...

"The Leeds band's mouthy and acerbic take on Brexit-era post-punk has the humor, polish, and storytelling of classic Britpop".

"It may be early to start taking notes on the Album Of The Year, but the smart money says The Overload will be there or thereabouts. Yard Act may not be here to save the music industry, but they'll give it a damn good shake-up".

"Leeds-based chroniclers of post-Brexit Britain refuse to give in to despair on exhilarating debut ... The Overload has an eye for detail behind its Jarvis Cocker glasses. Lyrically, it's not hard to draw lines between [songwriter James] Smith and his ancestors - John Cooper Clarke, Mark E. Smith, Ian Dury, Jason Williamson - and (...) these songs foreground a funny, alert writer ... Yard Act pull off a treacherous balancing act: describing a world that doesn't like nuance while ensuring they don't just end up shouting slogans and pieties in response".

"Leeds quartet's gloriously pithy, peculiar debut: A grab-bag of urgent pubb-funk grooves, underpinned by abrasive Burnel-esque bass growls, sardonic chants and hooky shards of guitar make for a debut album bursting with character, as does a compulsively entertaining lyrical narrative".
