"The latest addition to the Rough Guide series aims to take you on a sonic tour of the tunes which soundtracked, and are soundtracking, the Arab Spring. The thirteen tracks (...) are an eclectic mix of styles from across the Middle East. Though disparate, there is a palpable sense of purpose to most of this music and it is this drama which gives this compilation its energy and gusto ... There are some weaker points (...) such as the stadium rock of Sami Yusef and the wannabe stadium rock of Cairokee. Overall though, this compilation is a good way into some of the new and fresh music coming out of this diverse region. It's an album harbouring several gems and shot through with revolutionary passion".
