The story of GN : 150 years in technology, big business and global politics (engelsk)

Description

Udgivet i forbindelse med GN Store Nords 150-års jubilæum.

The Great Northern Telegraph Company made world history in 1870 and 1871 when the company introduced the telegraph to China and Japan, thus connecting those two countries with the rest of the world. Since then, the company has contributed to expanding and maintaining the world’s communication connections through some of the most dramatic events in world history: the revolutions in Russia and China, the economic depression of the 1930s, Stalin’s purges, the two world wars, as well as the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union. After the Second World War, Great Northern built an industrial group that contributed to laying the groundwork for the wireless mobile and data communications of our age. In the 1990s, the company established the first private cellular telephone network in Denmark and contributed to ensuring the quality of the global network of fiber optic cables that constitute the basis of today’s Internet. Several times, the company’s existence has been threatened, but it has gotten back on its feet every time, thanks to its strong will to persevere. Today, 150 years after its founding, the company, now called GN, is one of Denmark’s major technology groups, specializing in sound. The group is a market leader in two global industries, hearing aids and headsets, characterized by a high level of innovation and strong global competition.
