"[Laura] Kinsella's mellifluous voice is like a cross between the late Sandy Denny and the Cocteau Twins' Liz Fraser, but this amalgam makes for a truly unique vocal presence. Whilst this is nominally an ensemble affair, Kinsella, who penned eight of the ten songs presented here, undoubtedly leads the group in conjunction with her multi-instrumentalist colleague Chris Hyson who also skilfully produced the album ... "Love Again", the longest track at seven minutes, encapsulates all that is good about this album, a perfect balance of instruments juxtaposed with angelic vocals ... "Thought You Knew" offers a delicately haunting collection of songs that seamlessly straddle the boundaries of folk, jazz and popular music and are all infused with, as the name suggests, a subtle poetic delivery".

""Thought You Knew" reinforces the band's wistful, sometimes piercingly emotive personality in a collection of ten, delicate songs which, both musically and lyrically, can tug at the heart or raise a knowing smile of connection. Fronted by Lauren Kinsella's otherworldly "vocals" (which hardly begins to describe her creative range) (...), they entwine the fragile, acoustic landscapes of their mostly original compositions with subtle electronics, bathing Kinsella's own picture-painted trails with an elemental, almost three-dimensional glow".

"Følsomt jazzet singer-songwriter-musik er ikke en overrendt genre, men London-sekstetten Snowpoet anført af sanger og tekstforfatter Lauren Kinsella og bassist og komponist Chris Hyson dyrker den. Snowpoets andet album 'Thought You Knew' falder i sagens natur blidt som sne. Sjældent, at jazzmusik ledsager følsomt selvransagende popsange som 'It's Already Better Than Ok', men kombinationen fungerer fint på et album, hvor arrangementernes dæmpede klange sammen med Kinsellas næsten hudgennemsigtigt engelske vokal udmønter sig i et svalt udtryk".
